Freezing, Handling & Storage of Stallion Semen

The frozen semen course is designed for anyone seriously interested in learning the techniques involved in freezing, thawing, and handling of equine spermatozoa.

Previous experience in semen collection, evaluation, and insemination procedures or attendance at a CSU Equine Reproductive Management equine continuing education short course is required as a prerequisite for this course. Additionally, it is highly recommended to register and complete the online course on Stallion Frozen Semen.

January 13-17, 2025 - Equine Reproductive Management: Stallion, Mare, and Newborn Foal

The flagship course of the program is designed for horse owners and breeders to increase the efficiency and ultimately the success of their breeding programs. Cost is $2,500 for 5 full days of hands-on learning and insightful lectures. Course is designed for horse owners, breeders, and breeding assistants.Registration will open mid-July 2024.

September 11-12, 2024 - Equine Reproduction "Boot Camp" DVM Only

The goal of this 2-day course is to provide a combination of classroom lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions covering the basic aspects of equine reproduction for veterinarians in clinical practice. Day 1 will be dedicated to Stallion Reproduction, while Day 2 will be focused on Broodmare Reproduction. Lectures will be held in the morning and laboratory sessions in the afternoon each day.  Registration will open mid-July 2024.

September 13, 2024 - Equine Embryo Transfer (DVM Only) Laboratory Session Only

This one day hands-on in person laboratory session will provide veterinarians with four (4) CE hours from some of the world leaders in equine embryo transfer. Participants must complete the virtual Equine Embryo Transfer course prior to attending the laboratory session. The virtual embryo transfer course provides the necessary background lecture material to precede the in-person course. This course is for veterinarians only. Registration will open mid-July 2024.

The Problem Mare (DVM Only) - Laboratory Session Only

The goal of this one day in person hands-on laboratory session is to provide veterinarians with an opportunity to learn about common and less common reproductive abnormalities of the mare, as well as current diagnostic and therapeutic techniques that can be incorporated into clinical practice. Participants must complete the virtual Problem Mare course prior to attending this laboratory session. The virtual problem mare course provides the necessary background lecture material to precede the in-person course. This course is for veterinarians only. Next course will be offered fall of 2025.
