WEBMASTERS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

December 13, 2005

Present: Jamie Bethel, Tom Harmon, Charlie Kerlee, Erin Napier, Linda Tarnoff, Merry Wright, Sallie Varner.

Tom Harmon/Erin Napier, Co-Chair, began the meeting at 9:01 am.

New Business

  1. Tom - Discussed soliciting help from CVMBS faculty and staff to gather new information for the 'In the News' section of the College Home Page.   Tom will send out an e-mail eventually to ask for help.  Charlie Kerlee already has an image repository that is available for people to use if they want at: http://www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/cats/Imagebank.htm.
  2. Tom/Erin - Discussed the idea of changing the design of all CVMBS Dept. web pages and things we need to think about before making the change.  Erin provided templates that will hopefully help web developers to migrate to the new look, which can be found at: http://www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/webmaster/redesign/template2.htm and http://www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/webmaster/redesign/template_noflyouts.htm.
  3. The group voted on changing the look of all CVMBS web pages.  We agreed the change would be good but we need to get approval from the key decision makers of the College (Exec Council).  Tom Harmon will be presenting the new design to the Exec Council on Jan. 12, 2006.  However, it would good to show a new design sample to all Dept. heads before Jan. 12, 2006.  Erin's new design  sample can be found at: http://www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/mip/redesign/
  4. Other announcements: January 14 or 15 there will be a PDI workshop covering  modern web design.  You can find all PDI workshops for 2006 at: https://wsprod.colostate.edu/cwis5/registration/reg_home.asp?iDepartment=28
  5. Proposed the following be added to the CVMBS home page.  Linda Tarnoff suggested adding CSU A to Z along the top and Tom said he would work on adding a Google search dialog somewhere at the top of the page.

The meeting concluded at 9:53 am.

The next meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of February, 9:00-10:00 am, W1 A/Z.
