June 11, 2002

Members Present: Sallie Varner, Jill Lenz, Mary Pridgen, Erin Napier, Linda Tarnoff, Jay Kamerzell, John Chandler, and Tom Harmon

1.  Old Business

Jill Lenz stated that placement of the leprosy website under Outreach/Service on the CVMBS home page was satisfactory to Delphi Chatterjee.  Jill also added “Current Faculty /Administrative Staff Positions” as well as “Residency Programs” links to the CVMBS home page.

July 1 is the deadline for redesign of top-level pages.  Two Web Style Guide work sessions were scheduled for Friday, June 14 from 9-11am, and Wednesday, June 26, 9-11am.  Both work sessions were to be held in the Clark Building, Room C143.  Mary Pridgen stated that the task of combining 2 departmental web sites has become more time consuming and complicated than anticipated.  The committee viewed the Biomedical Sciences web pages to see how Sallie Varner combined web pages for the Departments of Anatomy and Physiology.  Erin is still working on the Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology website.  The committee was informed that online campus maps are available at http://www.map.colostate.edu/ were you can also get details of buildings, as well as room sizes.

Dr. Fettman could not attend the meeting.  He did, however, e-mail to update the committee regarding the new web position.  He stated that Thom Hadley will be meeting with a representative from a software firm to demo a program that would give us capabilities of a template for web pages for the entire college.  This software would cost approximately $20,000 to purchase.  There probably will be no new hire this year but a re-distribution of duties instead.

2.   New Business

Jill Lenz asked for volunteers to interview (10 minutes maximum) to be videotaped and used for a presentation this November at the Accessing Higher Ground – Assistive Technology in Higher Education Conference at CU-Boulder.  Mary Pridgen and Erin Napier volunteered to be interviewed.

The committee viewed the link to CSU from WebAim as a good example of web access efforts.  See http://www.webaim.org/training2002/week5/resourcelist#csu

The committee was informed that Network Services will only support Internet Explorer browser.  No more support for Netscape.

The next Webmaster committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9 at 9:00am in W1 Anatomy.
