Tuesday, November 13, 2001
Members Present: J. Bethel, J. Chandler, T. Harmon, S. Hilligoss, J. Lenz, M. Pridgen, J. Riegel, E. Napier, S. Varner, J. Strecker, and L. Tarnoff.
Tom Harmon stated that the Executive Council approved the redesign of the College home page. There were many positive comments regarding the flyout menu.
The redesigned CVMBS college home page was published to the web during the meeting. Jill Lenz stated there are still some things she needs to work on in the "background". She added that she had incorporated timed, rotating images using java script. Jill will complete a “template” for all to use. This template will be available on the "S" drive. Tom Harmon felt that College web pages should be brought up to date by the end of the year.
Report from MIP Webmasters
Sallie Hilligoss, Erin Napier and Jill Lenz have been developing the new
web page for the Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology Department. Sallie
has the PSD's to create flyouts and can get to anyone who would want to utilize
them.
Joe Strecker explained the process of duplicating the structure from “Triton” to the “Neptune” server. The move was to be completed by midday, November 14. He stated the problems with moving to another server were: 1) synchrony; 2) permission and 3) abandoned sites. He added it was difficult to find the contacts/user for each folder in the "W" drive (Triton). Some sites had not been managed for several years. Joe and Tom both feel there should be a list serve for a web authors group and would like to have this complete by the first of next year. A website to register each site was also proposed.
Jill presented a demo of how a web page would look to those who cannot see red and green colors. For the website to view web pages with color deficit, go to:
