WEBMASTERS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

Tuesday, August 14, 2001

Room W01, Anatomy/Zoology Building

 

Ms. Pridgen called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.

 

Members Present:            J. Chandler, S. Hilligoss, J. Lenz, C. Moth, E. Napier, M. Pridgen, J. Riegel, C. Schmer, and L. Tarnoff

 

New Business

 

  Elections

 

Ms. Lenz was nominated for chair of the committee for the coming year.  Committee members elected her by acclamation.

 

Old Business

 

  Presentation

 

Ms. Lenz presented revisions of the new webpage format.  She has worked on respacing the items in the flyout so they will take up less space.  Student information was moved to the green bar in order to give it more prominence.  Development will have its own item on the left-hand side.  Committee members worked on abbreviating words in some of the flyouts to reduce the three-lines to two or one.  It was suggested that the Related Links title be flush left.

 

Someone asked what impact the flyouts might have on search engines.

 

It was asked whether the Foot and Mouth announcement still needs to be on the front page.  Ms. Moth will ask Drs. Morley and Salman and report back to Ms. Lenz. 

 

Ms. Pridgen and Lenz will work on feathering/airbrushing the edges of the photographs to give them a softer look.

 

 Dreamweaver

 

Dr. Fettman will be providing webmasters in the College with copies of Dreamweaver, a web-authoring tool. 

 

The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m.  The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11, 2001, 9:00 a.m. in W01 Anatomy.
