Old Business
Network
Services is remaining site to come into compliance with the 1999 Redesign.
Ms.
Pridgen invited feedback on how Bobby Validations are going. It was suggested that a link be used instead
of the Bobby icon to indicate the validation.
The link would take the user to the Bobby website. Dr. Fettman suggested that a short statement
might suffice. It was agreed that the
statement, "Bobby approved for disabled users" would work.
New Business
Mr.
Chris Weller from the Office of University Relations and Colorado State
University Webmaster presented a discussion of the future of the CSU main page
and where the website will be heading.
Mr.
Weller indicated that the CSU website had been reviewed by JAWS to determine
how user friendly it is and could be.
The University is moving toward dynamic pages that will display text
only, some graphics or heavy graphics at the user's request via cookies. Multimedia would be a choice also.
In
addition, the site will be incorporating more animation and revolving images
via Flash instead of bitmaps.
One
of the largest challenges ahead will be the creation of a portal environment on
campus. Some committee members attended
a meeting that introduced this concept to a number of webmasters on
campus. Portals will provide
personalized entry and pages for the users.
It
is important to the University that the website maintain a fresh appearance
that allows users to navigate as easily as possible without a lot of waiting. It is a critical public relations tool.
The
meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m. The
next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. in the Adams
Room, Physiology Building.
