Tuesday, January 11, 2000
W01 Anatomy
Members Present: J. Lenz, S. Quick, P. Sollars, D. Stewart, K. DuQuoin, R. Jones, M. Hendricks, M. Pridgen and L. Tarnoff
Committee members introduced themselves to each other.
Old Business
The "W" drive has disappeared and all CVMBS web pages are now posted on the new CVMBS NT server. The site name and all URLs remain the same: www.cvmbs.colostate.edu as the Joshua server was not Y2K compliant. From this point on, it will be necessary to use FTP to publish pages.
Webmasters were reminded that the deadline for updates for the 2nd level pages, (i.e., department/program/unit pages) has passed. Currently we have approximately 50% compliance. Discussion was held regarding exceptions for the "internal" sites (IT, Budget & Finance, and Network Services.) It was determined that we would like to see the color and text choices consistent within any sites the public can access. Daniel indicated that he intends to create an "entry" page to the Budget & Finance login page, which will comply with our current standards, and have a link to the current page with its restricted access. The restricted access pages would be more complicated to change and it was agreed that wouldn’t be necessary. Ms. Lenz showed us the new templates available on the webmasters site, and again offered help to anyone who needs it bringing the rest of the Departmental Pages into compliance.
Bill Cotton had not contacted any of the areas needing photos as of the time of our meeting. Ms. Tarnoff offered to contact him to follow up.
New Business
Discussion was held on request from Paul Maffey for a permanent addition of the animated USA TODAY gif link to the main CVMBS page. Committee members felt the color, animation and size of the gif as well as the time-sensitive nature of the link made it undesirable to include on the main CVMBS page, but it was agreed that it was appropriate on the ACC page, and Ms. Tarnoff has placed it there. Dr. Jones suggested we could offer Paul Maffey the option of providing a photo to replace the current "What’s New" image, with a link to his pages, and this was approved by the group.
Ms. Lenz distributed a handout and provided a demo on FTP procedures for those members of the group unfamiliar with the process for the remainder of the meeting. Daniel Stewart will present his demo of ColdFusion Studio at our February meeting.
February meeting is scheduled for 9am, Feb. 8th in W-1 Anatomy.
