Old Business
New Home Page Posted
Ms. Lenz welcomed feedback from committee members regarding the new website.
Update on Presentation to Executive Council
The new homepage was introduced to the Executive Council on Thursday, November 4, 1999. The reason for the change was described. Ms. Lenz requested photographs to incorporate on the College's home page for the "What is This" feature. She also took the opportunity to verify the members of the Webmaster Committee with Department Heads and to see whether the webmaster was the appropriate contact for Bill Cotton. Executive Council members were introduced to the log pages and encouraged to review them in-depth on their own.
Update on Listserv and Members
The new listserv is under construction. There are three unidentified individuals from the current listserv. Committee members assisted in identifying and determining whether an individual was still active. The new list on ACNS should be active by next meeting and new email addresses will be announced.
Templates
Both Mr. Hendricks and Ms. Tarnoff have templates for the redesigned website for committee members to use. The templates are available at W:\webmaster\templates\.
New Business
Set Deadline for Second Level Compliance
Committee members agreed that the new template should be in place for at least each departmental homepage by December 31, 1999.
Set Deadline for Suggested Bill Cotton Photos
Following discussion regarding each department contacting Bill Cotton to let him know which pictures are to be taken for each department, it was decided that Ms. Tarnoff should contact him and find out how he would like to proceed--visit a number of departments in one day or deal with each department on an individual basis, for example. She will also give committee members an idea of how many photographs each department can have made.
Design Requirements--Font Types and Colors, Logos/Image Map
It was agreed that the CSU/CVMBS logo on the homepage for each department should follow the format of the College's, i.e., spaced closely together as one image. Webmasters can feel free to alter the font size of the headings in order to accommodate their page design using the file W:\webmaster\images\pathnam.psd created by Mr. Hendricks. Mr. Harmon does have an option to the image map logo design--each entity is separate. The separate CVMBS logo is available at W:\webmaster\images\unit_header_b.jpg. A variety of official CSU logs are available at
http://www.colostate.edu/orgs/webadmin/logos. Mr. Harmon used the small gold flush-right version (gldfrsml.jpg) on the netserv page.Committee Web Site
Ms. Lenz invited suggestions for additions to the Committee webpage. She will convert each member's name to an email link. It was further suggested that the purpose and mission for the committee be posted. Ms. Moth will work on putting that together based on the charge to the committee and committee minutes. Minutes from meetings will be posted as well as some helpful links.
Schedule Future Site Manager Demonstration with Daniel on Homesite and Tom on Front Page
Mr. Harmon will present the site manager Front Page at the December meeting of the Webmasters. Mr. Stewart will demonstrate the capabilities of ColdFusion at the January meeting. The two site management programs use considerably different approaches.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 a.m. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 14th at 9:00 a.m.
