WEBMASTERS’ COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
Tuesday, September 14, 1999
W01 Anatomy Building
Mr. Hendricks called the meeting to order at 9:07 a.m.
Members Present: T. Harmon, M. Hendricks, B. Jones, J. Lenz, L., C. Moth, M. Pridgen, P. Sollars, and L. Tarnoff
CSU A-Z
Committee members reviewed the new A-Z page for the University. It was noted that the "Apply to CSU" button was missing.
CVMBS Home Page
Mr. Hendricks and Ms. Lenz reported on the new homepage for the CVMBS. The Java Aplet for the sidebar did not meet the needs of the homepage as far as ease of use, time to load, and compatibility with MAC is concerned. So they are trying a new type of bullet format which is more user friendly. The following suggestions were made:
The main page for the college will feature pictures that will be rotated and will ask visitors to guess what the picture is. Committee members were going to bring a picture from each department, but it was decided that everyone in the College would be contacted and invited to contribute. This may expand ownership of the web site.
Mr. Hendricks moved that committee members approve the new homepage layout. Ms. Lenz seconded the motion. The motion carried. The page will be shown to the Executive Committee. Following that, it will be a template for departments to use for redesigning.
Committee members were encouraged to visit the web site flash.com to see the menu bars used on that site.
Front Range Community College Request
Front Range Community College has a program Veterinary Technicians and places technicians in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital for training. They have the CSU web site as a link on their web site and have requested having their site as a link on ours. Committee members discussed the request and agreed to place it under Other/Related Links since inquiries are made related to veterinary technician programs.
ColdFusion Errors
Ms. Tarnoff has been experiencing errors in the ColdFusion program she uses for This Week. No one has been able to fix the problem so a number of people are trying to find a solution.
Elections
Ms. Lenz expressed her willingness to be considered for chair of the committee for the coming year. Ms. Moth moved Ms. Lenz be elected by acclamation. The committee concurred. Ms. Moth will continue as secretary for the group.
