The CSU Equine Reproduction Laboratory will be larger allowing more space for research and client services. The new ERL will contain distinct areas for mare and foal work, assisted reproduction services and stallion work.
The reconstruction of the CSU Equine Reproduction Laboratory offers the chance to build an improved ERL that anticipates the needs for the rest of the century. A new structure is not inexpensive. Cost estimates are $5 million, but a new, modern facility will restore the functionality of the original ERL and add the features necessary to serve our clients in the academic, scientific, and equine communities into the future.
December 13, 2011 - Plans to rebuild the laboratory and office space for CSU’s prestigious Equine Reproduction Laboratory are in final design stages, and officials anticipate that construction will start next spring. The building was destroyed by a fire in July 2011.

Colorado State University's Equine Reproduction Laboratory staff is continuing to assess the damages of the fire to the laboratory's office building. We are working closely with Poudre Fire Authority and university health and safety officials. Unfortunately, the building was destroyed by the fire, but there is hope that items within the building will be recoverable and salvageable.
