Current information regarding
College computer support policies is always available at the Following
URL:
http://www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/netserv/CVMBS_Comp_Support_Policy.doc
Macs and Windows are currently supported using the Standard description in
“CVMBS Computer Support Policy”, but Mac support will change in the
following stages.
Stage 1: July 1, 2003
The College file servers will
cease to support Appleshare: Macintosh users will no longer be able to use
Chooser to go to the NetworkPublic and NetworkPrivate servers to mount
MacExe, OpenAccess, Groups and Home shares. However, Mac users who
purchase Dave software or are using OS 10.2.X will be able to continue
mounting those shared drives. Dave allows Macs to use native Windows
protocols to mount Windows shared drives and printers. For help with
D.A.V.E. contact your Computer Resources Group at: 1-0694.
Stage II: January 1, 2004
The College will change support
for Macintosh computers to the Minimum description in the “CVMBS Computer
Support Policy” document, which is:
An IP # will be provided to
appropriate, business-related devices. No other support,
troubleshooting, software installation, etc., is available from CVMBS
for these devices.
