Using web browser to get files
(Internet Explorer Only)

Any CVMBS user who is not on campus at the moment, can use their browser to open a CVMBS network drive by clicking one of the URL's below.

When asked to login, use your eIDName and eIDPassword, and then navigate to where the files you want are located.

S:\ - ftp://griffin.cvmbs.colostate.edu

T:\ - ftp://minotaur.cvmbs.colostate.edu/groups

U:\ - ftp://minotaur.cvmbs.colostate.edu

X:\ - ftp://griffin.cvmbs.colostate.edu/xdrive

Notes:

1. THIS IS NOT SECURE! There is no encryption, your login/password are being sent in clear text over the Internet, AND often your password is displayed in the browser title, address or status bars.

2.  If you are using FTP from off-campus and not using the VPN client you will have to make configuration changes in Internet Explorer, from the default settings, for this to work.  In Internet Explorer go to the "Tools" drop-down menu and Select "Internet Options".  Then, from the "Advanced" tab clear the check next to "Use Passive FTP" and in order to upload files turn on "Enable FTP folder view".

3. Logging in using a browser may fail if your password contains any of these characters: % @ : \ /

4. In most cases (requires Win2k or better), Network Services can give you a more secure means of accessing your CVMBS network files from off-campus using VPN and a Windows login script.
