Transposon Mutant Library
Program Description:
In 2002, TARGET (Tuberculosis Animal Research and Gene Evaluation Taskforce) was formed in response to a request from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIH/NIAID) to enable the modeling of human tuberculosis in multiple animal species using defined protocols and testing defined mutants of M. tuberculosis. In addition to animal modeling activities, a library of intragenic transposon mutants has been created and characterized. Individual mutants generated by TARGET resources are sent to CSU for QC characterization, at which point they are sent to BEI Resources for distribution.
Transposon Mutants Available
Ordering Instructions:
Registrants with appropriate level 3 ordering status through BEI Resources will be able
to receive transposon mutants without additional paperwork.
Some Tn mutants will not be listed on the BEI Resources Web site.
What You Need to Do:
- Query the mutants available
- If the mutant is listed as being available through BEI Resources, order the mutant directly through the BEI
Resources web site (http://www.beiresources.org)).
- If the mutant is not listed as being currently available through BEI Resources, send an email to Caroline
Pederson (caroline.pederson@colostate.edu) and provide the
MT numbers of the mutants not currently available.
- These mutants will then be queued for upscale and characterization. Once characterized, they will be shipped to BEI Resources for distribution.
- To see if your requested mutants have been shipped to BEI Resources, you may either return to
the contract web site and requery the transposon mutants available and check the BEI Resources
column in the search results or go to BEI Resources' web site directly and search the catalog.
