Ph.D Post-graduate training for Veterinarians

The Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine National Center for Research Resources-graduate training program provides veterinarians with backgrounds in pathology, comparative medicine and/or other advanced residency training in modern molecular and multidisciplinary research with the goal of enabling them to become NIH-funded principal investigators. The training environment emphasizes primary bench research employing methods in molecular biology and immunology, critical thinking, experimental design, scientific writing and communication skills. This enables trainees to build bridge basic research and in vivo application using animal models. The Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology (MIP), Colorado State University (CSU) boasts a strong established postgraduate (DVM/VMD) training program. Application to our graduate program involves submitting: (1) two original official transcripts from each college or university attended, (2) three letters of reference completed reviewer evaluation forms from individuals able to evaluate your abilities, (3) GRE scores are recommended (copy of your original scores will be ok), (4) a statement of your interest in the graduate program and a summary of career goals. Your statement of interest should include information regarding your specific area of interest in Microbiology, Immunology and/or Pathology and potential areas of research in which you would like to work, (5) a completed application to the Graduate School (available at: http://www.colostate.edu/Depts/Grad/), (6) biographical sketch or resume and; (7) a TOEFL score (foreign applicants only)[Internet address: http://www.toefl.org/]. Applications are encouraged on a revolving basis and start date is flexible dependent upon positions available at the time of application.

Foreign students without permanent residency are not eligible for this federally funded program.
