Research Interests
- As a member of the applied pathology service group of the department, part of Dr. Gould's activities include investigating and teaching about naturally occurring animal diseases as they are observed in the Necropsy Laboratory at the Colorado State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
- Dr. Gould's research activities concern pathology of livestock with special focus on neuropathology and disturbed ruminal function. Current investigations are directed at understanding the factors governing the production of excessive ruminal hydrogen sulfide and sulfide-induced brain injury in ruminants with polioencephalomalacia. Prion disease surveillance and agent control strategies are also areas of current investigation. Dr. Gould is also a participant in the Integrated Livestock Management Program at CSU.
