End of the Semester Bowling Party, December 3rd

This semester, instead of going to Woody's, we went bowling.  We had lots of fun.  Denee was so busy bowling and keeping score that she forgot to take more pictures! We decided to have the party before finals week so everyone could attend.  It was a blast and I'm sure that it will be a repeat.

   HealthONE Presentation, September 24th

bulletThe Microbiology Student Association (M.S.A.) hosted a presentation by HealthONE School of Medical Technology
bulletMedical technologists, or clinical lab scientists, work in hospitals, physician's offices, research laboratories, and industry.  There is great demand for med techs. ANY student with a Bachelor's degree and a background in chemistry, biology and math may apply to the one-year program required for certification as a medical technologist. You don't have to be a  microbiology major.  Most of you will complete the necessary prerequisites for admission into the program!!  If you need more information on this subject, please e-mail Susan Deines.
bulletThe presenters were Carolyn and Karen.  These are some photos taken during and after the presentation.

United Way Presentation

Jeff (pictured here) came to our last M.S.A. meeting (Oct 8th) and talked to us about the United Way.  We were interested to learn what the United Way is and what we can do to help.  The United Way is about raising money for different programs throughout Larimer County.  Some of these programs that they help with are the Boys & Girls Club, Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Hospice, and many more.  All together the United Way funds 52 different programs.  Last year they raised 4.1 million dollars for Larimer County, all of which stays in the county.  If you would like to help in anyway there is a number to dial to learn how to help, 211.  If anyone needs more information on the United Way or programs available please contact the United Way at www.uwaylc.org.  You can also email M.S.A. if you would like to join and help out.

We will be starting to help out with the United Way on a monthly basis.  We are hoping to get a schedule going and get involved with different programs that need help once or twice a month.  If you are interested please come to a meeting or email one of the officers.

American Cancer Society has asked M.S.A. for help
bulletCaroline Pederson has asked M.S.A. for help with the Relay for Life
bulletShe is looking for different departments and or organizations to help with this project.  Caroline was thinking about setting up the teams, collecting contributions and maybe competing   against each other to see who can raise the most money for the cause.  Fund raising starts in January.
bulletCaroline was also thinking about just having someone speak about different projects of the club or about The American Cancer Society in general
bulletThese are just rough ideas but she has asked M.S.A. for help.  If you have different ideas or have been involved in something like this before please let Denee or Jessie know if you would like to contribute
    Spring Picnic
bulletWe host a picnic for the entire Microbiology department at the end of spring semester.
bulletM.S.A. provides food and refreshments.
bulletLocal breweries donate a few kegs of beer.
bulletThere will be pictures posted after the picnic this spring
