Capacity Building and Infectious Disease Activities proposal

The ID SC announces a call for capacity building and specific infectious disease activities proposals. These proposals will typically be one time requests, and will be less than $20,000. The successful proposal will typically be multidisciplinary, will address specific needs and opportunities of the respective clusters (eg: meetings, retreats, speakers, small equipment, etc), will build ID SC capacity, and will promote program enhancement and coherence. The proposals will be due on April 15, 2008. The template for the research proposal is provided. All proposals will be submitted electronically to idsc_proposals@mail.colostate.edu. Proposals will be reviewed and funding decisions made in anticipation of a July 1, 2008 start. We anticipate funding two to three CB or IDA proposals annually, depending upon funds available.

Anyone considering submitting a CB or IDA proposal should contact Dr. Barry Beaty (491-2988; bbeaty@colostate.edu) to determine if the proposal is responsive to the IDSC RFA goals and needs.

Infectious Disease Research proposal

The Infectious Disease Super Cluster announces a call for research proposals in infectious diseases. Proposals will be due April 15, 2008. The typical successful proposals are requested to develop novel vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics and other potential products to combat infectious diseases of humans, animals, and plants. Special consideration will be given this year to translational research proposals which create intellectual property, demonstrate clinical utility and will increase product development opportunities. Innovative, multidisciplinary proposals, which will bridge departments and colleges, are also encouraged.

The typical research proposal will be for $30,000 to $50,000 direct costs per year (F&A costs are not allowed). The template for the research proposal is provided. Briefly, proposals will be restricted to five pages in length (ie, Specific Aims, Background, Preliminary Studies (if appropriate), Experimental Design, References). A plan to utilize preliminary data to procure additional funding or support will be required. All grants and required information will be submitted electronically to idsc_proposals@mail.colostate.edu. We anticipate funding of 3 to 4 projects annually.

Anyone considering submitting a research proposal should contact Dr. Barry Beaty (491-2988; bbeaty@colostate.edu) to determine if the proposal is responsive to the IDSC RFA goals and needs.
