Specific Component Directions
Podium PC
Dell OptiPlex GX280 Pentium 4, 1 GB RAM, Windows XP SP2 with auto login, floppy drive, no zip drive, CD/DVD-ROM drive and networked to CVMBS main campus network and the Internet. Serial number 6BNTJ71. Purchased 5-2005. Software: Office 2003, Power DVD movie player, and Visible Human Dissector per Dr. Whalen.
- Power on projector with AMX touch screen. Select "Podium Computer" as source.
- Power on CPU inside far left cabinet, bottom shelf.
- Access files via memory stick, CD or network drives. NOTE: You are welcome to save and display presentation files off the hard drive, in D:\UserData, also accessed by a desktop icon named "UserData. However, you are encouraged to use your network space* to store your files. Please delete your files when done.

Computer supported by CVMBS Computing Resources Group at 297-HELP(4357). CVMBS Computer Support Policy with details available at http://www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/netserv/CVMBS_Comp_Support_Policy-FY06-0.doc Included in the policy are details on specialized software in Teaching Computer Labs. "Additional software designated by instructors will be installed, if (a) CRG has 4 weeks to install/test it before it is needed for teaching (b) The software can run as a normal (not-privileged) user and presents no network security issues."
* Network Drives can be accessed via the "Login-Logout" desktop icon. Always remember to log out using the same desktop icon. This unmounts your private drives, otherwise your personal files are available for others to see.
** S drive not available? To mount just the public drives (S,X), go to Start > Log Off and the computer will refresh with the public drives only.
***Memory Stick issues? If you can't read your memory stick on the podium computers, in most cases this is because the user used proprietary software (included with their memory stick) to protect (encrypt or read-protect) the data. They will need to undo this protection - CRG is unable to accommodate all the varieties of software and permissions/privileges required to unlock memory sticks that have been protected in this way.
Laptop Ports
The existing Podium PC is recommended for use, but users may opt to bring their own laptop or check out a laptop from Instructional Technology. A VGA and an audio cable to connect your laptop to the podium port for display and sound is provided.
- Power on projector with AMX touch screen. Select "Laptop Comp" as source.
- Connect laptop to podium's laptop port. You will need to provide your own VGA cable.

If you hook up a laptop that is already running, you may need to reboot in order for the projector to be properly recognized. - Option to control mouse with remote control.
- If access to the Internet is needed, an Ethernet Internet cable is provided, wrapped up in the bottom of the podium. Detailed instructions for "Setting Up The Laptop To Use Internet In The Classroom" are available at http://www3.ois.colostate.edu/classnet/classinfo.html. Wireless access points are in the vicinity if you want to connect to the Internet with a wireless card using the Cisco VPN client and your CSU eID login.
- When done, power off projection system with AMX touch screen.

Test tape in another analog Hi-8 player (InTech Lab in anatomy W3 has one) to verify if tape is defective. If analog Hi-8 player fails or becomes defective, the player will not be replaced or repaired. Users are urged to upgrade to VHS or Digital Video, as analog Hi-8 is outdated technology.
