What's New in Photoshop CS3
Presented by Jill Lenz, March 1, 2007
New Interface
- Tool box: single column, two column still an option
- Quick Mask: only one mode now
- Screen Modes: Full Screen mode now has a grey background vs. black
- Palettes - clustered in a dock (dark grey area)
- Vertical resizing, no dragging the dock, but the light grey clustered area.
- Can drop anywhere to be free floating ala cs2, or drag to dock on right.
- To collapse, click on title bar. To expand temporarily, click on icon.
- Shift + Tab - palettes hide, hover over them to toggle on and off show/hide
Bye-bye Image Ready
- Save for Web feature still available in Photoshop CS3
- Adobe ImageReady CS2 feature location guide for Photoshop CS3
- Learn Fireworks if you want to "slice and dice" images
- GoLive may go away, too
New Bridge
- New colors, new interface and Windows docked together
- Sort by filename
- Improved Metadata
- Filmstrip view? no filmstrip icon ...instead use buttons 1, 2, 3
- Customizable workspace
- Magnified preview in virtual loupe (click press + or use mouse scroll wheel to zoom from 1x, 2x, 4x or 8x)
PhotoMerge
- Used to be the worse stitcher out there since it came from Elements
- Try checking the option for Auto Blend Layers - remaps colors to match
- Makes layer masks to help repair seams
- Review Align Content and Auto-Blend Layers in History palette
- Recommendations for shooting panos
- Overlap each shot 1/3
- Stay in one spot
- Lock down aperture and exposure
Filters Smart Object
- This is worth the upgrade
- Editable filters
- With masks, opacity and blending modes
- Combine multiple filters
