College-level support
Hello, I‘m Jill Lenz, an Instructional Technology staff member from the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences’ Deans Office. I train and support faculty, staff and graduate students in our college with their college-based digital video projects by teaching a workshop and providing one-on-one assistance using the software Adobe Premiere Pro for editing and Cleaner XP for compressing.
The CATS Lab at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital also provides digital video support.
Workshop
I host a workshop on digital video with a review of the processes to capture, edit and compress videos for the Web, PowerPoint, or CD/DVD-ROM projects.
Consultations
- I am available to provide one-on-one assistance to you or your project team
- Many members of our college take advantage of this service to receive personalized assistance with digital video for an hour or two at a time, many scheduling multiple sessions.
- We typically meet in the Instructional Technology lab in Physiology 101
Tips
General Advice
- Use a tripod to minimize motion of camera
- Use plain backgrounds when shooting
- Shoot more than you need, at different angles, multiple takes
- Edit to show only what is truly necessary
- Keep it short
- Keep special effects special
- Learn from flawed videos
