Have you ever wondered what innovative and creative teaching techniques are being used in the College? What have other faculty tried and implemented in their own classrooms? The Faculty Showcase series will highlight several projects and  the pedagogical theories they embody. Each session will begin with a presentation by a CVMBS faculty member, demonstrating the techniques they are using in their classroom. Dr. Schoenfeld-Tacher will follow each presentation with a discussion of the educational theory being applied.

Please join us as we kick off the new semester with a discussion of an exemplary interactive CD and its impact on student learning. Dr. Madl will demonstrate the laboratory materials, which allow students to view equine anatomy from various perspectives, and you will be able to try the program out for yourself. Mr. Fordham will address the technical issues associated with this project.

The Pros and Cons of Developing an Interactive, Case-Based CD for Radiology Instruction
Dr. Susan Kraft
November 15, 2001
Have you ever wondered what it's really like to use Authorware to produce a case-based program for Radiology instruction? Dr. Kraft will give a candid explanation of the pros and cons of this type of undertaking, from the initial design stage to implementation and use of the materials with a large audience. This presentation will emphasize both the technical and pedagogical aspects of the process, as well as student reactions to this type of instruction.

An Update on Lecture Notes: Dermatology on CD.
Dr. Ralf Mueller
November 29, 2001
This session will highlight a CD-ROM developed to give students access to multimedia course notes even after they graduate from CSU. By creating a series of web-based materials that run independently of Web-CT, Dr. Mueller has been able to take advantage of the benefits of multimedia instruction without restricting access. Join us for an interesting session as Dr. Mueller describes the process of designing and developing web-based materials "from scratch" and the decisions he had to make along the way.
