Fast and Furriest 5K Benefits Pets Needing Critical Care at Veterinary Teaching Hospital

On a bright and sunny day, nearly 300 runners and walkers and their four-legged friends came to participate in the Fast and Furriest 5K Race, benefiting pets in need of critical care. Veterinary students in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences sponsored the event with proceeds going to the Companion Care Fund as well as to the DVM Class of 2011 Scholarship Fund.

The 5K race was run on Saturday, April 17, at the historic Oval on the Colorado State University campus. The family-oriented day featured a 1K walk/run for children, a dog and runner expo, and live entertainment.

The Companion Care Fund is entirely need-based and is reserved solely for community members. Without the financial assistance provided by the fund, many clients would be faced with the difficult choice of declining care for their animal or relinquishing ownership. The Companion Care Fund provides hope for both owners and their animals in need.
