The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences’ 71st Annual Conference for Veterinarians will be held Jan. 9-10, 2010, at the Lory Student Center on the Colorado State University campus. The 20th Annual Conference for Technicians will be held Jan. 10, 2010.
The keynote speaker for the Annual Conference for Veterinarians is Dr. Mo Salman, DVM, MPVM, PhD, and a Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University. Dr. Salman is a Diplomate of the American College of Preventive Veterinary Medicine and the American College of Epidemiology. His topic will be “The Global Role of Veterinarians in Combating Infectious Diseases.”
The program this year includes the latest information on small animal, exotics, food animal, and equine medicine. Guest speakers are Dr. Dennis Chew, Diplomate ACVIM -Small Animal Medicine, who will be speaking on urinary tract disorders; and Dr. Mark Hilton, Diplomate ABVP - Beef Cattle, who will speak on herd health and production economics.
New this year, the conference is two days offering 16 hours of continuing education with five tracks of lectures from which to select. The registration fee has been reduced to $365 for registrations received before Dec. 15, 2009. The technician’s conference provides six hours of continuing education credit and the fee has been reduced to $80.
The Food Animal Veterinarian-Producer Partnership for the Beef Cattle seminars are back this year. Food animal veterinarians are encouraged to invite producers to attend the seminars with Dr. Hilton on Saturday, Jan. 9. Producers should contact Tiffany Banfield at 970-297-1273 to make reservations.
A two-hour session on the Animal Cancer Center is available for a limited number of attendees. The session includes transportation to and from the Animal Cancer Center, and tours and mini presentations in three different areas including the new Phillips PET/CT unit, the Varian Trilogy Linear Accelerator for Radiation Therapy, and Information on Ongoing Oncology Clinical Trials and the Tissue Archiving Program.
