During the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Spring Meeting, faculty and staff were given a sneak preview of new construction projects that will enhance the College’s facilities, as well as increase opportunities to improve excellence in teaching, research and outreach. Some of the projects are already nearing completion, such as the Regional Bio-Containment Laboratory, while others are set to kick off this summer, including the Diagnostic Medicine Center.

“We are very excited about the growth the College is experiencing right now, and want to thank everyone who has made these projects possible, from individual faculty members to central administrators who have provided key support in acquiring funding,” said Dr. Lance Perryman, Dean of the College. “We also want to reassure our faculty, staff and students that we understand how these projects might make daily life a bit more of a challenge as we kick off the various building projects, but we are making every effort to mitigate the dust, noise and inconvenience often associated with new construction.”
At the South Campus, parking needs are being taken into consideration by first improving parking in the VTH’s West Parking Lots before tearing up available parking directly north of the VTH or beginning on the parking area at the hospital’s entrance.
Funding for the buildings is a mix of state, federal, private and University funding. A number of planned buildings have start and finish dates still to be determined, based on funding availability. Below is a list of the current and planned building projects with square footage, start and finish dates, and estimated costs.
