CVMBS Hosts Career Fair for Veterinary Students and Professionals

Career FairPrivate and corporate veterinary practices, industry, academic institutions, and government and non-profit agencies are encouraged to register early for the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences’ first winter Career Fair set for Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at the Fort Collins Hilton Hotel. Professional Veterinary Medical students, CSU residents and interns, and CVMBS alumni are encouraged to attend to learn about the great opportunities being offered in the private and public veterinary sectors.

“The Career Fair is an excellent opportunity for employers to meet with our current students as well as our alumni, whether the employer is looking for students who are interested in a summer experience, or students who are looking for full-time employment,” said Ruth White, Veterinary Career Coordinator for the College. “Current PVM students, alumni, residents and interns will all be attending the fair, exploring the different options available to them, so it’s a great place for employers to see and be seen.”

The Career Fair, which features individual booths for each registrant, will run from 4-7 p.m. A reception for CVMA mentors and their student mentees will follow the Career Fair. White also will assist with coordinating private interviews between employers and fair goers, to be scheduled between 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Career Fair“Last spring we did a mini career fair for summer experiences and the students loved it,” said White. “They were able to meet face-to-face with people instead of on the phone or e-mail, and they came away with a lot of great opportunities. Employers told us it was time well spent for them as they could get the word out about what they were offering and the result was a steady flow of students into their practices and other professional settings.”

To find out more information about the Career Fair, or to register as an exhibitor, visit the Career Fair web site at www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/cvmbs/careerfair.htm. Early registration is recommended for exhibitors to receive the most publicity from students visiting the web site. Registration deadline is Friday, January 25.
