Annual Fast and Furriest Fun Run Slated for April 22 Racers will make their way along a scenic course and then enjoy food, music and entertainment provided by local sponsors, donors and volunteers. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest human finishers as well as to the most unique animal race finishers. Last year, prizes were awarded to animal athletes including a pet rat, a goat and a 6-foot-long snake. More than 450 participants are expected to enjoy this year's race as well as other event attractions including a raffle, demos by amazing animal athletes, give-aways and an expo of student clubs and services. Dollars raised from the race support Colorado State University 's Companion Care fund, which reduces the financial burdens that may keep pet owners from otherwise seeking veterinary treatment for their animals. The fund is need-based and reserved for members of the local community. Organizers have set a goal to generate more than $7,000 for the fund. Additional proceeds will go toward a scholarship endowment for students enrolled at Colorado State 's veterinary school. For information on The Fast and The Furriest fun run, including participant restrictions and a schedule of events, pick up a pre-registration form at Fort Collins Runner's Roost and Foot of the Rockies locations. On-line race registration is available at www.active.com. Donations to support the event can be made by visiting www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/development and selecting The Fast and the Furriest from Events of Interest. |
