Colorado State University Provost Peter Nicholls to Serve at the University of Connecticut

Colorado State University Provost Peter J. Nicholls has been named provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of Connecticut. He will begin his term in April.

"Peter Nicholls' tenure at Colorado State University has made a real difference to the institution; he has exercised responsible and steady leadership in challenging times," said Colorado State President Larry Edward Penley. "His contributions to Colorado State University will remain long after his departure. Among those significant accomplishments has been the selection of some very excellent faculty and deans. All of us at Colorado State wish him well."

Nicholls, who joined Colorado State in March 2002, achieved many academic goals such as revising the University's first-year curriculum, restructuring the Division of Continuing Education, as well as promoting the development of K-12 outreach programs. He also very effectively led the University's regional reaccredidation.

Since Provost Nicholls does not depart until April, President Penley will have the opportunity to take the necessary time to select an interim provost to succeed Provost Nicholls in anticipation of making a decision on a candidate to fill the position full-time.
