Dr. Anthony Frank Named Provost

Colorado State University President Larry Edward Penley has named Senior Vice President Anthony Frank to the permanent role of Provost, the University's highest academic post. Dr. Frank has served as Interim Provost and Senior Vice President since February. He previously served as Vice President for Research and Information Technology at the University.

Dr. Anthony Frank"We are extremely fortunate to be able to call upon an administrator of Dr. Frank's caliber for this critical leadership role," President Penley said. "His strong experience as a teacher, researcher, department head, research vice president and senior administrator - combined with his personal integrity and commitment to the role and mission of a 21st century land-grant university - are difficult to match. I have been very pleased with the leadership he has provided as interim provost, and I am grateful for his willingness to serve as the next provost and academic vice president of Colorado State University. He is widely respected as both a scholar and administrator, and we believe he is the right person to take the University's excellence in academics and research to the next level."

Dr. Frank joined Colorado State in 1993 as an Assistant Professor of Pathology and was promoted to head of that department in 1996. He was appointed Associate Dean for Research for the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 1998 before being named Vice President for Research and Information Technology in 2000. President Penley named Dr. Frank Senior Vice President in June 2004.

University Posts Strategic Plan

The Colorado Commission on Higher Education and the University’s Board of Governors had requested that the University undergo a strategic planning process to help the University pursue its vision and fulfill its missions. A draft of the current plan is now available for review and comment at the strategic planning web site located at http://www.president.colostate.edu/strategicplanning/index.asp.  The web site also features an FAQ section, University mission and values, overview of the strategic planning process, response and input sections for comments, planning timeline, and more.

Seven committees worked to formulate the University’s strategic plan. Vice Presidents and Deans co-chaired the task forces to identify goals and define metrics for measuring progress towards completion.  Faculty, staff and student representatives from each college have provided input to the plan, which President Penley has shared in draft form with the Board of Governors.  President Penley is seeking feedback from the CSU community throughout the summer and fall semester.
