The Fast and the Furriest Benefit Fun Run Slated for April 23
On Saturday, April 23, the Professional Veterinary Medical Class of 2007 will host the second annual "Fast and the Furriest," a 5K/1K run-walk fundraiser to benefit the Companion Care Fund and the PVM Class of 2007's scholarship endowment. The event will take place behind the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital at 300 W. Drake Road in Fort Collins. The Companion Care Fund offers financial assistance to clients of the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital who have an animal in need of emergency or immediate life-saving care. The Fund is entirely need-based and is reserved solely for members of the community. Without the financial assistance provided by the fund, many clients would be faced with the difficult choice of declining care for their animal or relinquishing ownership. The Companion Care Fund provides hope for both owners and their animals in need. Activities on race day include a police dog demonstration from the Fort Collins Police, and dog athletes from Colorado Disc Dogs and the Superfly Allstars. Hot air balloon rides are also on tap. Pre-race registration is $22 adults, $20 students, and $10 for children 6 and older. Children under 6 are free. Registration includes a T-shirt, awards for a variety of categories (including furriest pet finisher), music, food, race give-aways, demos, and chances to win raffle prizes. To register please contact: Runners Roost, 902 West Drake, 970-224-9114; Foot of the Rockies, 150 Harmony Road, 970-377-8005; online at www.active.com; or on-site race day (entry fees are $25 and $20 with student ID), beginning at 7:30 a.m. If you are unable to race but would still like to make a donation, visit www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/development and select “The Fast and the Furriest” to donate online. |
