Search Underway for New ARBL Director

The Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory has initiated a search to replace Dr. Gordon Niswender as director of the laboratory. Dr. Niswender is entering a transitional appointment and will be leaving as director of ARBL when a replacement is named.

“Dr. Niswender has done an excellent job leading the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory to a position of international prominence in the field of reproductive biology,” said Dr. Lance Perryman, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. “His leadership will be missed at ARBL, but we are confident we will have a highly qualified applicant pool from which to choose his successor.”

ARBL is one of 16 University Programs of Research and Scholarly Excellence at Colorado State University. Research programs in ARBL broadly address regulatory mechanisms that underlie mammalian reproduction. Current faculty interests include neuroendocrinology, ovarian function, gamete biology, pre-implantation embryology, assisted reproductive technologies, uterine function, placental-fetal interactions and fetal development, molecular signaling, and reproductive disease and toxicology.

“The individual we are looking for must possess strong leadership skills, as well as skilled oversight capabilities,” said Dr. Perryman. “The director must have a strong publication record, and substantial extramural funding as well as an active research program in reproductive biology. In addition to the research component, the director will have a role in teaching.”
