ERHS Welcomes Dr. Ronald Tjalkens

Dr. Ronald B. Tjalkens has joined the faculty of the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences as an Assistant Professor.

Dr. Tjalkens comes to the College from Texas A&M University where he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Public Health. He also was a member of the faculty of Neuroscience and of the interdisciplinary faculty of Toxicology. Prior to that, he was an NIH-Postdoctoral Fellow in the Neurotoxicology, Toxicology Program, at the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, University of Michigan. He also was a NIF Predoctoral Fellow at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Molecular Toxicology and Environmental Health Sciences Program, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences as well as a research assistant at that school

Though still early in his career, Dr. Tjalkens has received numerous awards including the Society of Toxicology Early Career Award in Neurotoxicology, NIH/NIEHS postdoctoral fellowship, NIH/NIAAA predoctoral fellowship, and the Chancellor’s Research Scholar Award from the University of California-San Diego.

Dr. Tjalkens graduated with a PhD in toxicology from the School of Pharmacy, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry/biochemistry, from the University of California-San Diego. He was a postdoctoral fellow in neurotoxicology, School of Public Health, at the University of Michigan.

We welcome Dr. Tjalkens to the Colorado State University community and to the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
