● Dr. Joyce Berry, a longtime faculty member and administrator
at Colorado State University's College of Natural Resources, was named
as the new dean of that college beginning July 1. Dr. Berry, who
is a faculty member in Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism, served
as Director of the Environment and Natural Resources Policy Institute
from 1994-2001. She has served as Associate Dean for Colorado State's
College of Natural Resources since 2001, was Assistant Dean from 1999-2001
and interim director of the Colorado Policy Institute from 2001-2002.
She was an administrator and instructor at Yale before coming to Colorado
State. Berry will replace Al Dyer, who served as Dean of the College
for 11 years.
● An Associate Dean at Purdue University has been named the new
dean for Colorado State University's College of Applied Human Sciences
beginning Aug. 1. Dr. April Mason, Associate Dean for discovery and engagement
in the School of Consumer and Family Sciences and the Assistant Director
of the Cooperative Extension Service at Purdue University, will replace
Dr. Nancy Hartley, who has served as the Dean of the College for more
than 10 years.
Dr. Mason has been at Purdue University since 1984, beginning as an
Assistant Professor of foods and nutrition and extension specialist.
In 1993, she worked in the laboratory of biochemistry at the National
Heart, Lung and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health.
Mason was appointed as Associate Dean for extension in the School of
Consumer and Family Sciences in 1996. She has served as Associate Dean
of discovery and engagement since August 2002.
