SHARE Sponsors Dr. Alan Beck for Series of Lectures at CollegeThe Students for Human-Animal Relationship Education (SHARE) organization is sponsoring a series of lectures by Dr. Alan Beck, Director of the Center for the Human-Animal Bond in the School of Veterinary Medicine, Purdue University, Indiana. The first lecture, on Sunday, February 1, at 2 p.m., is open to the public. The second lecture, which is for students, will be held on Monday, February 2, at 6:30 p.m. There is no cost and reservations are not required. Refreshments will be served. Both lectures will focus on the emotional, physical and psychological impact of animals in our lives and both will be held in the Room 102 of the Argus Institute for Families and Veterinary Medicine at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Dr. Alan Beck has been director of the Center for Human-Animal Bond since 1990, when the center was established to develop a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between people and their companion animals. He is the author of numerous books including the popular "Between Pets and People: The Importance of Animal Companionship," which he co-authored with Dr. Aaron Katcher, in addition to numerous articles on the nature of the human relationship with animals. He is a founding board member of the Delta Society and a Professor of Animal Ecology at Purdue.
