Dr. John Zimbrick Receives Service Award
Dr. John Zimbrick, head of the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences, has been selected as the recipient of the Radiation Research Society's 2004 Distinguished Service Award. This prestigious award recognizes long-term service to the society. Dr. Zimbrick will receive the award at the Society's annual meeting in St. Louis this month.
Dr. Zimbrick joined Colorado State University last summer, coming from Purdue University where he was a Professor of Health Sciences and member of the Purdue Cancer Center. Dr. Zimbrick attended the University of Kansas where he received his master's and PhD in radiation biophysics. He was a member of the faculty there from 1969 until 1984, and also served as chair of the Radiation Biophysics Department. After KU, Dr. Zimbrick was a scientific review administrator with NIH, and then joined Washington State University. He then worked for Pacific Northwest Laboratories and the National Academy of Sciences before joining Purdue University in 1997.
