Ph.D., Environmental Engineering, University of North Carolina at Chapel HillResearch Interests
Dr. Volckens lab siteDr. Volckens' research interests include the development of methods for aerosol and air pollution measurement, combustion emissions and their associated health effects, and the development of improved diagnostic techniques for assessing human exposures to and adverse health effects of air pollution. Current research projects include the development of a lung-dose aerosol sampler for in vitro health effects research, characterization of particulate matter emissions from internal combustion engines, nanoparticle measurement, and development and application of personal, spatiotemporal exposure assessment using a combination GPS, GIS, and direct-reading instruments
