The Irradiation Services Laboratory provides irradiation services for various research users.
Substances may be irradiated and returned to the client so that research can be conducted.
Cesium irradiation concentrates on providing services to campus customers, but off-campus clients
have access to irradiations as well, providing a valuable service to private-sector clients which is
not readily found elsewhere.
The cesium irradiation source and users of the source are monitored
by the university's Environmental Health Services office for safety and
conformity to regulations regarding the use of radioactive materials.
