ENVIRONMENTAL AND RADIOLOGICAL HEALTH SCIENCES OPEN POSITIONS
Tenure-Track Cancer Epidemiologist Faculty Position
The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences at Colorado State University
invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position in cancer epidemiology at the
Assistant Professor level. This position is located within a unique multi-disciplinary research and
teaching environment in a University that has a history of excellence and strong support in the
area of cancer research. This position will be an integral part of the newly formed
Cancer SuperCluster, an alliance of academic
researchers, economists, and business experts that encompasses 65 faculty members from 12
departments across the University, with the goal of addressing global challenges and encouraging
collaborative research.
Additionally, the Department is a key participant in the
Colorado School of Public Health Initiative,
a collaborative effort that will begin offering a Master of Public Health degree program in
Fall 2008.
Applicants must have a PhD, ScD, or equivalent degree in Epidemiology or a closely related field;
applicants with a MD or DVM are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to demonstrate interest
and experience in collaborative cancer epidemiology research (in humans and/or animals). Previous
teaching experience is preferred. Candidates whose research focus includes environmental or
occupational exposures, genetics, biomarkers, or cancer prevention are particularly encouraged to
apply. The candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching in the undergraduate and graduate
programs, to mentor graduate students, and to develop an externally funded research program.

(undergraduate), Industrial Hygiene (graduate), and Health Physics (graduate). Graduate students
pursue degrees in Environmental Health, specializing in Epidemiology, Occupational and Environmental
Health (Industrial Hygiene or Ergonomics), or Toxicology; or in Radiation Health Sciences,
specializing in Health Physics, Cancer Biology/Oncology, or Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging.

Epidemiologists at Colorado State University are affiliated with several
departments, and specialize in environmental epidemiology, cancer epidemiology,
reproductive epidemiology, injury epidemiology, nutritional epidemiology, chronic disease
epidemiology, as well as various other areas in infectious disease and veterinary epidemiology.
The Animal Cancer Center of Colorado State University is the largest group of veterinary
professionals in the world dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in companion animals.
With over 40 clinicians, scientists, nurses, technicians, and support staff, the Animal Cancer
Center handles more than 7,000 appointments and more than 1,500 new animal cancer patients
annually. Research at the Animal Cancer Center is supported by the National Cancer Institute,
American Cancer Society, Morris Animal Foundation, Bayer Animal Health, and The Limb Preservation
