Colorado State DVM/PhD Program
We have made many new and exciting changes in the DVM/PhD Program at Colorado State University. We recognize that DVM/PhD students have needs that differ from those of conventional graduate or professional veterinary students and have revised our Program to accommodate these needs in a coordinated fashion. Key updates include an improved administrative structure, a completely redesigned curriculum that better integrates training for the PhD and DVM degrees, the creation of an interactive seminar series/journal club specific for dual-degree students, and new financial incentives. Graduate Studies in Cancer Biology
The Cancer Biology Program provides research and education related to carcinogenesis and chemoprevention, cancer risk assessment, cancer diagnosis, and experimental therapeutics. This multi-departmental and multi-college program involves both basic cancer research as well as translational and clinical research. Clinically related research is conducted at the Robert H. and Mary G. Flint Animal Cancer Center located at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
The CSU Animal Cancer Center has been a model in veterinary medicine for cutting edge research and treatment of pet animals with naturally-occurring tumors to advance the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in humans and animals. The program is composed of faculty from the Departments of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences (ERHS), Clinical Sciences (CS), and Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology (MIP) in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS). In addition this program also includes collaborating faculty from the CSU College of Natural Sciences and College of Agricultural Sciences, and from outside collaborating institutions.
