The College and Its Mission

As part of a Land Grant University, the College's mission encompasses education, research and service. Objectives include: maintaining and enhancing undergraduate, graduate, and professional teaching programs; pursuing excellence in biomedical research; providing state-of-the-art patient care and diagnostic services for veterinary clients; providing post-graduate support through continuing education and consulting services; and offering outreach services to the community.

The College is committed to educating the next generation of biomedical researchers and veterinarians, to achieving the highest standards in its fields of expertise, and to maintaining and advancing its international reputation.

The College comprises four academic departments, the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and the Colorado State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory System. Housed within these departments and the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital are more than 30 scientific centers and service units offering an expansive array of research, teaching, and service opportunities. The College's world-class Professional Veterinary Medical Program is an integral part of each department and of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
