Application Process and Review - Advanced Standing
Application packets may be obtained directly from the Office of the
Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Complete
applications must be sent to the Office of the Dean, CVMBS, Colorado
State University. Applications will be evaluated on an individual basis
when received. There are two deadlines for submission of
the application, April 1 and November 1.
References and an official transcript of all postsecondary education,
including that at Colorado State University, if attended, must be sent
directly from each institution to the Office of the Dean, College of
Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Scores on the Aptitude Test (the General
Test) of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), taken within the
last five years must be submitted.
Three letters of recommendation are
required which must include the following references: 1) the
Dean (or associate) of the applicant's present college of
veterinary medicine; 2) a recent or current college of
veterinary medicine faculty member; and 3) a veterinarian. The
essay in the application must explain why the student wants to
transfer to Colorado State University.
Application review and decision process
The Admissions Committee will review
the application package of advanced placement applicants
including academic performance, letters of recommendation and
experience. From the committee's evaluation, a recommendation is
made regarding the competitiveness and qualification of the
student compared with presently matriculated students.
The Associate Dean for PVM Curriculum
reviews the compatibility of the curricula and makes a
recommendation regarding level of placement in the PVM program.
The Dean offers or denies a position
with advanced placement to the applicant.
