Information and guidance regarding financial aid for veterinary students are available from the Colorado State Student Financial Services, Centennial Hall (telephone 970/491-6321). Direct Student Loans (subsidized, unsubsidized, graduate PLUS), and Health Professions Loans are available to residents and nonresidents. The Colorado Graduate Grant is a graduate grant available only to Colorado residents. Some veterinary students participate in a work-study program. The College is pleased to be able to offer over $1,000,000 in scholarships each year. Most of these scholarships are for continuing veterinary medical students. Awards are presented at special programs (usually held in April).
The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University enrolls 5 high school graduates in Vet Start, a program that provides guidance through a four-year undergraduate preveterinary curriculum at Colorado State. Students who successfully complete the program will be guaranteed admission to the professional veterinary medical program. Undergraduate and professional program tuition scholarships are awarded to all selected candidates. Students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds are given special consideration.
