GRADUATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR GRADUATES IN BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND MICROBIOLOGY

The Dean, Faculty and Staff of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences rejoice with you on the forthcoming occasion of your graduation. Please read these guidance instructions carefully and advise your family and guests of those points that will allow them to celebrate this wonderful occasion with you. Please note that graduate students (all masters and doctoral students) from the College have their degrees awarded at the Graduate School Commencement Ceremony.

Saturday, May 18, 2013

Lineup: 8:15 a.m., Student Recreation Center (Studio 1)
You will receive your name card (containing the information from the questionnaire you completed with your home department through the graduation web site; see your department graduation coordinator named at the bottom of this web page if you have questions) a program, and lineup instructions from the College Marshals. During the ceremony, your name and the biographical comments on your card will be read as you cross the dais to be congratulated by your department head and the dean. Please arrive on time and interact with fellow graduates while we prepare to recognize you. If you have not completed the online RamCT surveys, you must arrive by 8:00 a.m. (ramct.colostate.edu, Graduating Seniors).

Photography: Professional photos will be taken as (1) you are congratulated and (2) with your diploma cover. You will be contacted after the ceremony by the photographer (GradImages) with specific instructions on how to access and view photos should you wish to order prints. You should receive a free passport-sized digital proof on an order card within 5-7 days following the ceremony. After the ceremony you may order online www.gradimages.com or call 800-261-2576. Questions may be emailed to service@gradimages.com.

Personal photos before, during and after the ceremony are encouraged. This is a time to remember! Please be considerate of other guests and graduates for photos taken during the actual ceremony but feel free to encourage family members to record the event of this joyous occasion.

Time of Ceremony: we will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m., Student Recreation Center. Therefore you must be in the lineup area far enough in advance to don regalia, check your name card, and receive instructions from the college marshals regarding the conduct of the ceremony.

Reception: (immediately following ceremony), Lory Student Center Theater for all graduates, family members, guests, and faculty/staff. Parking for this reception is most convenient in the lot west of the library.

Tickets/Seating: Tickets are not required for admission. Graduates are requested to limit guest invitations to no more than 8. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Areas will be set up to accommodate anyone with a special need - please call 491-3818 (Joanne Greer) so that we may make advance arrangements for your comfort.

Parking: Parking can be found west of Moby Gymnasium, north of the Lory Student Center, west of Aylesworth Hall, or west of the library. We suggest that the library and Lory Student Center lots would be optimum given the reception location and the fact that other, larger colleges will be graduating in Moby at the same time as us.  The post-graduation reception will be held in the Lory Student Center Theater.  On the day of the ceremony, Meridian Avenue will be open from Plum Street to the south to facilitate DROP OFF and PICK UP in front of the Recreation Center plus access to parking areas – no street parking will be allowed on Meridian. Meridian will remain closed from Laurel to Plum due to construction.  We suggest that folks who are challenged by walking use this option.  Metered parking is in effect on week days only until 4:00 p.m.   Parking is free in metered slots after 4 p.m.  and on the weekends.  During the time of graduation ceremonies (Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18) most university parking restrictions (with the exception of handicap spaces, loading zones or other specially designated slots) are relaxed for the benefit of our guests.
