Patient Accommodations in the Critical Care Unit of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital

Oxygen, Temperature, and Humidity Controlled Suite

Animals with respiratory problems usually require supplemental oxygen. This is accomplished with an environmentally controlled suite. While housed in the suite, the animal is constantly monitored and continues to receive intravenous drugs or fluids. The suite is so comfortable, most animals sleep soundly as extraneous noises are screened out by the suite walls.

Nebulization in the Environmental Suite

Occasionally dogs and cats need nebulization for treatment of their respiratory diseases. This is easily accomplished while being housed in the environmental suite where temperature, oxygen levels, and humidity are carefully controlled.

Large, Spacious Suite

Larger dogs in the Critical Care Unit are housed in large, well-padded, comfortable suites. Each animal is carefully monitored throughout the day and night.

Cat and Small Dog Suites

Patient comfort and excellent monitoring are hallmark characteristics of the Critical Care Unit at Colorado State University.

Large Dog Suites

For the large and giant breeds of dogs, there are indoor, temperature-controlled suites.

Metabolic Suites

Occasionally it is important to monitor urine output or to collect specimens from dogs or cats. Metabolic suites are available for the comfort of the animal and the ease of collecting specimens for diagnostic testing.
