• This patient should be given intravenous fluids because of the presence of postrenal azotemia.

• Post obstructive diuresis is common.

• Consider using ins-and-outs to keep up with the fluid losses by these patients.

• Hyperkalemia is often life-threatening in the feline urethral obstruction.
