Where do you find grant opportunities & resources:
– click research tab and look under column Research What’s
New & Research Resources Quick Links. This is also a great resource
page for grant submissions in general (if you have not checked this
out you are in for a nice surprise).
• Grants.gov is the central place to find and apply for government
grants: http://www.grants.gov/
• Community of Science Funding Alerts: Join up, personalize
your searches, and get weekly searches emailed to you: http://www.cos.com/services/funding.shtml
• USDA funding opportunities can be accessed from: http://www.csrees.usda.gov/fo/funding.cfm
How do I apply:
• For all grants, and particularly for competitive grants,
refer to Department of Clinical Sciences Proposal Process Guide,
accessible from the “Research Resources” tab at: http://www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/clinsci/administration.htm
• When working on an Industry Agreement/Standard Research
Agreement with Sponsor, please include the Office of Sponsored Programs
and your accounting tech from the earliest time, they will help
and often take over negotiations on the research agreement: http://portal.research.colostate.edu/PIManual/commercial.pdf
What happens when a grant is awarded:
• The PI and the Office of Sponsored Programs will be notified
by the Sponsor that they have received an award.
• When the Standard Research Agreement is signed by the Sponsor
and the first 50% of monies is received a 53 fund number will be
issued.
• Once the 53# is issued the PI can start the project.
Grant accounting:
• A monthly report will be provided to the PI by their accounting
tech by the 15th of each month
• You need to observe reporting requirements /progress reports
from the sponsor.
Procedure for ending a Grant:
• If research needs to continue past the end date for the
grant, please contact the Office of Sponsored Programs and your
accounting tech to request a no cost extension.
• One month before grant ends, set up a time with your accounting
tech to review the process of closing the project.
• Please refer to: rampoint.colostate.edu – research
tab, then column My Active Research projects to look at your grants
end dates and additional information.
• If your grant has ended and it is a fixed agreement, you
will be asked by your accounting tech to spend out any monies left
over. This will insure that your grant monies will not be part of
the sweep process. Please refer to this website for additional information:
