Frank™ Workshop

Communication is a clinical skill...

As a practitioner, the importance of effectively communicating with your clients has never been more important. The tremendous growth of the human-animal bond has driven a need for improving communication between veterinarians and their clients, who are more caring about their animals than ever.

More than three decades of research in medical communication vividly shows the success of implementing shared decision-making into client communication, resulting in improved clinical outcomes, including increased compliance as well as client and veterinarian satisfaction. Teamwork within the practice setting is also markedly improved.

It’s likely that you entered the veterinary profession with little – or no – practical experience in effective client communication. The Frank™ workshop teaches veterinarians critical communications skills in the same fashion that they would learn other clinical skills – they are taught the concepts, and then practice them in a clinical setting with patients and clients.

Colorado State University,Colorado Veterinary Medical Association and Pfizer Animal Health invite you to participate in this interactive workshop customized to enhance each individual’s clinical communications skills. You’ll see the benefits and value of this workshop instantly – and you’ll be able to apply what you’ve learned as soon as you return to your practice.

This evidenced-based, interactive program uses best practices in teaching communication, including demonstration and observation of communication skills, realistic client portrayal, constructive feedback and video reflection.

Earn 12.5 continuing education credits while learning new communication insights and skills that can be immediately integrated into your practice. You will be learning from two top veterinary communications experts:

  • Jane Shaw, DVM, PhD – Director, Argus Institute, Colorado State University
  • Suzanne Kurtz, PhD – College of Veterinary Medicine, Washington State University
