71st Annual Conference for Veterinarians

We are happy to announce our keynote speaker for the 71st Annual
Conference for Veterinarians is one of our own faculty members,
Dr. Mo Salman, DVM, MPVM, PhD. Dr. Salman is a Diplomate of the
American College of Preventive Veterinary Medicine and the American
College of Epidemiology. His topic will be “The Global Role
of Veterinarians in Combating Infectious Diseases”

Our program this year also includes many of our brilliant faculty
members presenting the latest information on small animal, exotics,
food animal and equine. We are honored to have as our guest
speakers:
Dr. Dennis Chew, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM -Small Animal
Medicine, speaking on urinary tract disorders

Dr. Mark Hilton, DVM, Diplomate ABVP - Beef Cattle Herd
Health and Production Economics

Some new things this year:
The conference is now just two days offering 16 hours of continuing
education credit with five tracks of lectures to select from. The
registration fee has also been reduced to $365.00 for registrations
before 12-15-09. Also the technician conference will be worth 6 hours of continuing education credit rather than 8. The registration fee reduced to $80.00.

We are also continuing the Food Animal Veterinarian-Producer Partnership for the Beef Cattle seminars. Food animal veterinarians are encouraged to invite producers to attend the seminars from Dr. Hilton on Saturday January 9th. Please instruct interested producers to call Tiffany at: 970-297-1273 to make
reservations.

What’s New at the Animal Cancer Center?

This 2 hour session is available to a limited number of attendees, and happening on Sunday, January 10, 2010. It includes transportation to the Animal Cancer Center, and tours and mini presentations in three different areas, and transportation back to the Lory Student Center.  This session features the new Phillips PET/CT unit, the Varian Trilogy Linear Accelerator for Radiation Therapy, and Information on Ongoing Oncology Clinical Trials and the Tissue Archiving Program. 

Drs. Susan Kraft and Debbie Gibbons will demonstrate clinical applicability of the PET/CT unit and give case examples.  Dr. Susan LaRue will show examples of treatment plans and how the radiation is administered.  Case examples will include stereotactic radiation therapy which can deliver curative treatment in 1-5 fractions.  Dr. Susan Lana will discuss current clinical trials and how to identify patients who would benefit from those trials.  She will also provide tours of the Animal Cancer Center laboratory wing and discuss our tissue archiving program.

The 20th Annual Conference for Technicians will be held January 10, 2010. The postcard that was mailed out to veterinarians and technicians stated the Technician conference was worth 8 hours but it actually worth 6 hours this year. We apologize for the error. The registration fee has been reduced to $80.00 before 12-15-09. Please be sure and check out the program. Several labs this year as well as many gifted speakers!

REGISTRATION & CANCELLATION INFORMATION

Pre-registration is required for all veterinary continuing education conferences. Courses are subject to cancellation when registration is inadequate to cover costs of the program. Registration at least six weeks before the course will help prevent cancellation. Course fee is payable to Colorado State University. Fee includes proceedings, materials, supplies, refreshments and in some cases, lunch. Please see course schedules for more information.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

Registration fees are fully refundable until 60 days prior to the course, 50% refundable between 60 and 30 days prior to the course and non-refundable after 30 days prior to the course. Fees will be refunded 100% at any date if vacated spot can be filled.
