For 3rd and 4th year members of the Student Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (SVECCS), we provide one and two week clinical externships. Externs will work alongside fourth year veterinary students in the Critical Care Unit serving the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Colorado State University.
As both the ICU and emergency service, students will be exposed to all aspects of emergency and critical care medicine. Those visiting for one week will have their choice of day shift (7am to 5 pm) or swing shift (3 pm to 10 pm). Those here for 2 weeks will spend a week in each.
We are fully staffed with experienced veterinary technicians (6 who are AVECCT certified), volunteers, 2 critical care residents and two ACVECC board certified faculty members.
