K-12 Outreach
Faculty members and students within the Toxicology section and Center for Environmental Medicine are actively involved in K-12 outreach programs within the state of Colorado. Activities at present include participation and coordination of Brain Awareness Week as well as individually tailored programs that fit the needs of the primary instructor in each grade unit.
A wide variety of topics have been presented to K-12 classes including information and hands-on activities in fields as diverse as Genetics, Toxicology and Science in general to increase educational awareness of future careers and everyday applications of these sciences to audiences within the K-12 system. Additionally, our faculty members are actively engaged at the middle and high school levels with motivated students wishing to pursue laboratory experience under mentorship of Toxicologists.
