Resume and Cover Letter Writing

Your resume and cover letter is a key piece to the job application process! This is the first impression you are giving the employer. The purpose of a resume and cover letter is to get you an interview. The resume does not get you the job!!! The cover letter is a brief statement to introduce yourself and explain the how your skills and experience match the open position. A resume is a formal outline of your education, skills, experience, and other accomplishments.

To develop both your resume and cover letter:

• Make a rough draft of each and explore the resources available for resumes and cover letters
• Attending the various workshops on campus through the career center and those specific to the college.
• Make an appointment with Kelley by calling the Career Center at 491-5707.
